Syrian Arabic To English Translator

An online start-up project that teaches Arabic vernaculars as foreign languages, is currently looking to add to its team A-player translators who are enthusiastic about their culture and are able to explain its culture specific linguistics to non-Arabic speakers.

The project is the first of its kind with regards to its teaching method and it is our goal to become the go-to place for learning Arabic vernaculars.

We would be looking forward to work with you, if you:
are Syrian
have at least 1 year work experience in translating into English
have experience in dealing with foreign students learning Arabic, or dealing with English speakers in general
have easy internet access
are good with communicating via the internet, using VIOP, chat, and email
have good computer skills (MS Office, Google products, Skype)
are self-organised and able to stick to schedules
are willing to learn new skills in both the fields of translation and technology
although we value experience more than certificates, still a qualification in a relevant field would be a bonus

Job duties:
You will be dealing with Syrian vernacular scripts originally directed to Syrians. It will be your job to: 1) translate the scripts, and
2) to provide an explanation in English of cultural words and phrases that occur within the scripts.

At the moment we are recruiting freelancers, but after a while we plan to hire on an employment basis.

Payment will be agreed depending on the amount of work you will be doing.
