WinSoft is inviting typographers, graphic designers, calligraphers and artists to illustrate, in text, their vision of a world where a dialogue between cultures will be both natural and enriching with the WinSoft Arabic Typography Contest. Working from the theme of bringing cultures closer together, contestants will be asked to use Arabic typography and graphicdesign to illustrate words inspired by the idea of a rapprochement between cultures. Kamel Gaddas, CEO of WinSoft said: “By launching this contest we hope to promote Arabic culture by highlighting the richness of Arabic typography to an international audience, while at the same time contributing to the celebration of UNESCO’s International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures."

We are truly excited about this contest. The jury is made up of a panel of typographic and Arabic culture experts including Nadine Chahine from Linotype and Aref Hijjawi, Director of Programs at Al Jazeera. There are 10 prizes to win, worth more than $16,400 and the results will be determined by a public vote and the jury's decision.
