A young woman in present time inherits a collection of journals written by a female ancestor in the 1840s- 20 yrs before the American Civil War. Charlotte Chestnut begins her journey as a teacher in Western Virginia and gets embroiled in a search for treasure, love, murder, mystery and intrigue.
