Our team is a group of experts in energy modeling analysis. Our projects involve modeling the energy performance of buildings. Over the past several years this has included residential buildings, office buildings, commercial buildings, homes and schools.
The goal of our projects involves the evaluation of building energy performance, typically comparing the results to baseline systems. We utilize internationally approved softwares to create models of real buildings and apply various technologies, which may be system-based (Heating, ventilating & Air Conditioning) or envelope-based (Building walls, windows, shading features, etc.).
Why?
Some regions require performance assessment to comply with building regulations, while other countries have, or are adopting, voluntary building rating systems such as LEED, BREEAM, Green Star and Estidama, which also require performance assessment.
Building modeling and simulation incorporates consideration of these regulation requirements into the whole design process right from the start, and ensures the highest level of compliance is achieved in the most cost and time effective manner.
When?
From feasibility estimations at the beginning, right through to the detailed, actual compliance and certification calculations at the end.
Energy modeling predates recognized rating systems, and there are more fundamental reasons to model. During the conceptual design of the project, energy modeling can provide valuable input. A Model should be made before it is so late in the design process that opportunities to use it to guide design decisions have been lost.
Many modelers are reluctant to build a model when so much is still unknown, however, good professional experience combined with the default values built into some modeling software can quickly yield a model that is perfectly adequate for comparing alternate scenarios - relative differences are more important than fatal accuracy.
