We would like to invite you to participate in the exhibition RE:LIFTA, part of QI2012 ‹Qalandia International 2012›, taking place from the 15th till the 21st of November 2012, at Yabous Cultural Center in East Jerusalem.
Qalandiya International is Palestine’s landmark contemporary Art event that will take place from November 1 to 15, 2012 in several Palestinian towns and villages. Qalandiya International is a collaboration between eight of the most prominent cultural institutions in Palestine focusing on Contemporary Art. This unique art coalition is an attempt to pool resources and work collectively towards showcasing and promoting contemporary culture in Palestine both locally and internationally. For more info, please visit http://www.qalandiyainternational.org/
Lifta is a historic Palestinian village situated on the North-Western hills of Jerusalem that was ethnically cleaned in 1948 and all of its inhabitants becoming refugees.
For "RE: LIFTA", A group of young local architects and designers got together to collaboratively imagine an alternative fate for the remnants of the village of Lifta, that have become a symbol of the Palestinian Nakba and resilience. We propose a response to the systematic marginalization of Palestinian narratives and to the constant threat of destruction hovering over our collective memory.
"RE: LIFTA" is also an open call to join in the conversation by sharing ideas, masterplans, or images representing imaginaries of return and of democratic spatial organization.
Please contact us on email@example.com to receive a pdf file with the full information. Please confirm to us by email your intent of participating before the 20th of October
We hope you will not miss this opportunity to put Lifta back on the map and to contribute to a thriving cultural scene.
We hope to hear from you soon and look forward to receiving you at Re:Lifta.
Thanking you for your attention,
The "Re:Lifta" team.
