Web Developer / Tech Manager For ArabNet

ArabNet is the premier event for the Arab web industry, and aims to grow web content, services and applications in the region by fostering the ecosystem of entrepreneurship. ArabNet 2010 brought together over 500 leading executives from across the MENA, and showcased 20 entrepreneurs with bright ideas and promising startups, all of whom connected with investors. Building on its success, IBAG, the organizer of ArabNet, is seeking to hire a number of excited young people with entrepreneurial spirit and creative ideas to take the ArabNet brand to the next level. All positions will be located in Beirut, Lebanon.

Job description: We're looking for an experienced web developer (PHP/XML/Javascript) and tech expert to lead and manage ArabNet and IBAG's online/mobile presence. This person will be responsible for conceptualizing and building an interactive portal for Arabnet, and constantly iterating and improving this web presence. This person will also be generating creative new ideas for interactive features to build ArabNet's community. This person will advisie on creative uses of technology for events and manage on-site tech / AV teams; s/he will also advise on development of applications for other platforms, including social media / mobile. Will be located in Beirut, Lebanon.

Qualifications: This person should have a solid track record of building interactive websites with 2-5 years of experience in PHP, XML, HTML, Javascript/Jquery. This person must also have a solid understanding of various development platforms and be able to advise on development for mobile and/or social networks, including outsourcing and monitoring development for those platforms. This person must be a avid user of facebook / twitter / linkedin, and must be self-directed and independent, comfortable and excited to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
